The Scent Behind Butters: Vanilla Almond & Creme

Somewhere along the Amalfi Coast. Or maybe Mykonos. The distinction doesn't matter. What matters: the breeze is warm, the wine is cold, and you've just tumbled in from the water, sun-kissed and starving, into a little café that smells like everything good in the world.

Butter. Vanilla. Sugar. Creamy and decadent and completely right.

The music is low, the vibe is exactly right, there's that one person across the room who keeps looking over. You're searching for the word for this feeling. The flirtation. The indulgence. The afternoon you don't want to end.

And then a tiny white Bichon Frise trots in, wearing a little linen bandana, tail going. The barista bends down: Ciao, Butters! And just like that, it clicks.

That's the name. That's the scent. That's the memory you want to carry with you.

The notes

Vanilla anchors everything. It's the note that feels like home regardless of what your home actually smelled like. Vanilla is universal comfort and I will defend that statement indefinitely.

Almond is the distinction. Without it, Butters would be nice. With it, Butters is specific. The almond note adds a slight nuttiness that keeps the scent from being one-dimensional. It's what makes people ask what is that in the best possible way.

Creme is the texture. Not a traditional note so much as a quality. The softness that holds vanilla and almond together and makes the whole thing feel rich rather than just sweet.

A note: Butters contains an almond fragrance note. If you have a tree nut allergy, please check with your healthcare provider before use.

When to light it

Golden-hour flirtation. Licking something delicious off your fingers. Never checking your phone.

A vacation in a jar. A main character moment. Light it whenever. There are no wrong times for Butters.
